Tutors from SWBP, SS and SKS talk about how to prepare for your first professional orchestra extra work gig.

Now in it's second year, the original idea came out of talks with the SU and the aims of the initiative are to:
- Help provide students a sense of unity, particularly during this time when we are not all in the college building
- Give you a musical focus for the week
- Introduce you to some lesser known orchestral works by underrepresented composers
- Learn a wide range of standard orchestral rep including film music, opera and ballet
In total we’ve selected 15 pieces – not all instruments will have a part to learn every week, but there will be opportunities across the year for all Woodwind, Orchestral Brass, Strings, Harps, SKS and SVSO students.
Even if your instrument isn’t involved on a particular week, do use the opportunity to listen to the piece, maybe study the score or simply learn about the composer. A range of Academic Studies tutors will also share their expertise with you through some short videos which will be sent out when we announce that week’s Piece of the Week.
