Super work yesterday Nina!

Bravo, I know having an indivudual lesson after the group lesson can be a bit tiring but you managed wonderfully!

We worked on our bowing motion in much more depth, so I hope you can continue practising this at home. It is the type of work that you need to do often and regularly otherwise you'll forget how to do it!

We spent a lot of time discovering the range of motions our right elbows can do. It can go:

-Up and down (like a lift) and

-Open and close (like a crocodile mouth) Or you can think of it as small triangle (at the heel of your bow), square (middle of your bow), big triangle (tip of your bow)

In the song that we did in class, called Jig, we practiced first moving from string to string by rocking our elbows either up or down. We then put that together with open and close elbow motions to produce sound. So:

-up and down to change string

-open and close to produce sound.

It is important to do these in the right order, otherwise it will sound very messy! Make sure you are on the correct string before you start producing a sound.

It is a bit tedious at first I know, but with practice it will become second nature and you will sound like a very sophisticated young violinist!

Happy practising!

Best wishes,

Mari-Carmen
