She started composing it at the age of 13 and first performed her Piano Concerto 3 years later.

One reviewer at the time said, “If the name of the female composer were not on the title one would never think it were written by a woman.”

Performed by BBC National Orchestra of Wales in Fri 8 Mar 2019 

and again by Ulster Orchestra at 2019 Proms.

Isata Kanneh-Mason recorded the Piano Concerto as part of her debut album with Decca accompanied by the RLPO, also in 2019.
