Hello, hello!
Thank you for all your hard work and focus today, what a brilliant way to start the term!
- We learnt all about the different parts of our violin. Can you remember where the 'f holes' are? How about the tailpiece? And what about the scroll? Hmmm.... lots to remember! I will leave a list of all the parts below to jog your memory, see if you can point to them at home:
Scroll, Pegs (remember, don't touch them!), Fingerboard, Strings, F holes, Bridge, Tailpiece, Chinrest. *
(*Hint, they are in the order of the song)
- We also learnt about the different strings on our violins, and how they all sound different. Some sound really low, and some sound really high! To remember the name of each string, all you need to think about is this:
GRANDMAS DOUGHNUTS ARE ENORMOUS
Pluck this on your violin, starting from your lowest string, all the way up to your highest string.
- Last but not least, we learnt how to hold our violin both in rest and play position. It is super important that when you are in play position that you do not let your imaginary food roll off from the top of your violin! I believe the foods in question were:
-Isabelle: strawberries
-Nina S: raspberries
-Obi: chips
-William: watermelon
I'll be wanting my share of yummy food on Saturday so don't let your left arm droop while in play position please.
Note for parents: Sarah has left some very helpful videos on Moodle about how to hold the violin, this is brilliant revision for the week and it is important that children go over it at home.
I hope you have a lovely week, see you all on Saturday!
