The Library has over 15,000 recordings available from a wide variety of genres for both students and staff to use. CDs and DVDs are available for loan. (For information on loan allowances please see the Borrowing items from the Library guide.)

The Library also has a collection of LPs available for use in the Library.

Listening/Viewing facilities

The library has a Listening Station equipped with CD and record players, mini-disc and cassette recorders. A separate Online Listening Station allows access to audio-visual resources including Naxos Music Library, Naxos Jazz Library and Spotify (via your own account). There is also a viewing station, equipped for watching DVDs and Blu-ray discs.


Off-air recordings

The Library has a collection of over 1,500 recordings of various off-air performances including BBC Proms, Cardiff Singer of the World, Stephen Fry on Wagner and many more. All of these DVDs can be borrowed.

 

College performances

The Library holds the collection of archive recordings of College performances dating from the College’s inception in 1973 to the present day. The collection is for use in the Library only, but copies can be made using the Library’s recording facilities. Ask at the Library counter for a recording (blank CDs and DVDs are also available for purchase). Copying CDs/DVDs

Owing to copyright restrictions it is not possible to copy commercial sound recordings, DVDs or off-air recordings. Recording facilities are only available for making copies of College performances.

 

Online Audio-Visual Resources

The Library has subscriptions to several online Audio Visual resources, including Naxos Music Library, Naxos Video Library, Naxos Jazz Library and Berliner Philharmoniker Digital Concert Hall.
