Library access: Autumn term 2021

From Thursday 16 September the Library will reopen for browsing, study and PC spaces. Bookings will no longer be required.

Using the Library from 15 September 2021

Access to the Library shelves will reopen. You no longer need to pre-book to enter the Library, just use your swipe card for entry.

Whilst moving around the Library you must wear a face mask or covering and use the hand sanitizer provided.

To borrow books, music, CDs/DVDs and Zoom Recorders

  • You can borrow items as normal by browsing the Library shelves and getting the items issued at the Library counter
  • You can still choose to reserve items via the Library catalogue. You will receive an email when the item is ready for you to collect. You do not need to book a slot to collect your item. It will be available to collect from the Library counter.

To access Library study spaces, computers and photocopiers

Walk-in access is now available for study spaces, computers and photocopiers. Capacity will remain lower than usual to enable distanced working.

  • You should bring your own headphones to use with the Library PCs
  • It’s your responsibility to wipe down your working area before and after use. Cleaning products will be provided.
  • Printer/photocopiers are available in the Library. It’s your responsibility to wipe these down before and after you have used them.
  • The binding machines will be available to use. It’s your responsibility to wipe the binding machines down before and after you have used them.

Library Returns

All items for return should be placed into our Returns Box at the Library door.

(Any incomplete items will remain on your account, overdue charges will apply and replacement costs may be incurred)

Zoom recorders should be returned to the Library Counter.

Library Staff are available to help you access the resources you need and for help with study skills.

Online Resources

Online resources are available through our Library catalogue and our RNCM Discovery search engine and can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection. Please see the Library pages on Moodle for more information.

Your module and elective pages on Moodle all have reading and resource lists with direct links to Library resources relevant to that module.

Digital sheet music is available via nkoda.

To access these online resources you will need a MyAthens login. Please email the Library if you are unsure how to access online resources.
