We worked hard today on using our 3 fingers.
We sang our scale from low do to high do':
Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do
Then we sang all the notes between low D and high D:
D E F# G A B C# D
Then we sang the finger numbers:
D 1 2 3 A 1 2 3
Then we plucked this pattern on our violins. When our fingers were feeling confident we then bowed it. We started off doing 4 bows per note. When then tried 2 bows per note.
This pattern of notes is called the D major scale.
We then looked at Maiden Fair. We are confident with our note names and finger numbers but when we play it it's a bit 'stoppy and starty'. Why don't you pluck it first and then add the bow when happy.
