Hi Mia!

I'm so sorry for posting this so late this week... I thought I'd posted a lesson write up already but I saved it as a draft instead of publishing, I do apologise!

Your reading is coming on really well, keep thinking about finger numbers AND note names :)

We recapped the arpeggio work we did in our lesson and you went one stae further by working out the arpeggios starting on A and G. Could you have a little practise of these and perhaps we can share them with Thejal and Tharoon on Sat.

Do Mi So Do'  = arpeggio

D major = D   F#  A   D          0  2d   0   3a

G major = G   B   D   G          0   2g   0   3d

A major = A   C#   E   A          0   2a   0   3e

We also worked on our octaves. We discovered that octaves are 8 notes apart. When we count 8 notes apart using the musical alphabet we end up on the same letter...

D   E   F   G   A   B   C   D

We can play octaves by doing our open string and then 3rd finger on the string higher. For example:

open D   -   3 on the A

open G   -   3 on the D

open A   -   3 on the E

Make sure your 3rd finger is really in tune, check your finger placement on the sticker and also use your ears. Octaves should sound a high and low version of the same note. I'll help you more with this over the next few weeks so don't worry if you're not to sure abut this for now.

Keep you left hand posture relaxed and with a space for Klaus. Fingers need to be on the finger tip and wrist down.
