Hi Bluebirds,
Now we are doing a great job with our bow holds, its time to think about making different sounds with our bow!
We learned the words forte, piano, fortissimo and pianissimo - these mean 4 different volumes - forte means loud and strong, and piano means quiet or soft. 'issimo' added to a word means 'even more' - like the english word 'very' before a describing word.
Change your Dynamics by adjusting your Weight and Speed and Position (WaSaP!). Heavy arm, faster bow, near the bridge for loud dynamics, light arm, slow bow, near the finger board for quieter sounds.
We also learned the words legato - long and smooth, staccato - short and spikey, and spiccato - light and bouncy.
Try these 7 different sounds with your bows this week on each string, thinking about how you make each sound different!
Vamoosh - look at Sailing Home and On Top of Old Smokey - one needs a legato bow, one a staccato one!
Cello Time Starters - Mini Mozart - try the rhythm variations.
Extra - have a look at Boogie Band from Cello Time Starters if you have some extra time!
Well done!
