Hi all,

Quite a lively lesson today!

As we have two weeks to practice this time, I have given you quite a bit to do! If you don't get time to do the 'challenge' at the end, don't panic as we will be going over this in our next lesson.

Please check your Starters book for incompleted work pages - pages 10, 14 and 15.

New piece: Boogie band (page 17 in Starters) - please clap the rhythm through first and say the words. Watch out for the rests and the repeat at the end. Then have a go at plucking (no bows).

Mahattan Blues (Vamoosh) - practice plucking and when you make something up don't go crazy(!), be cool and come up with some interesting rhythms and include other sounds - like tapping the cello.

Bow holds - keep checking for curly thumbs and fingers curled over the bow.

Warm up bows with Willow Waltz (Vamoosh). Don't forget your bow circles. Every time you land - relax your right arm and pull the bow across the string (no pressing down and crunching on the strings!)

Copy Cat (Starters page 16) - play this with the bow. No bow cirlces in this piece so your bows stay on the string and go 'out' and 'in' (down and up).

For your ensemble lesson - Hi Dom....with your bows.

Challenge: Clown dance (Vamoosh no.8) - listen to the recording, clap along (remember to repeat lines 1 and 2, and also lines 3 and 4), have a go at plucking it. You can always practice at a slower speed before trying to play along with the backing track.

It has a two bar introduction.....

Have fun and see you on Saturday 23rd November!
