Hi Bluebirds!

Well done for a great first lesson yesterday!

We talked about how to hold our Cello properly first, so please see if you can remember "knees, chest and never shoulder" to get your cello in the correct position. Please use the video I've made on Moodle in the Holding a Cello in Playing Position section to see more detail about this, and to practise making a Strumming Pizzicato in "rain is falling down" and a Thumbs Up Pizzicato on each open string.

You can remember your open strings with the silly sentence, "Can Grannies DAthletics?" - your strings are C G D and A.

Once you have practised along with the video, try making up some rhythms on each open string using ta, ti-ti and sh - make each pattern 4 beats long and see if you can come up with a different one on each string to show me next week!

Using your Thumbs Up Pizzicato, please practise the piece "Jig" using this link:

Please could you all buy the books 'Cello Time Starters' and 'Vamoosh 1' for Cello for next week's lesson?

Please practise your cello as often as you can - every day if possible, but if thats a bit much this week, try for at least 3x10-15 minute sessions before next lesson!

Any questions, please reply to this thread!

    Have a great week!

    Stephen
