Hello everyone!
What a great couple of weeks we've had. I am really encouraged by how everyone is progressing.
Parents....please keep an eye on feet, sitting up tall and bow holds - a few 'bad habits' are creeping in!
We are really focussing our lessons on LH work at the moment however, feel free to play any open string pieces as warm-ups......or if you feel your child just needs a 'good play' on their cello. (Pieces to play could be: Clown Dance or Can-Can or their Ensemble pieces, Sword Dance or Toad in the Hole - with improvisation.)
Left hand work
Roller Coaster - remeber this is on the D string. Keep checking for spce between fingers and firmly hold the string down to get a really strong sound. (The backing track goes quite fast.)
Pages 26 and 27 in Starters. Have a go at as many of these as you can (except no.44)! Get used to reading the new notes on your D string:
0 (fingers) = D
1 = E
3 = F♯
4 = G
When you are playing your high G - 4th finger - make sure all fingers are down on the string.
Happy Mother's day and see you next Saturday!
Rachel
