The College has a Health and Safety Advisor – Valerie Donovan, who will be able to assist with any health and safety concerns that you may have.
There are some key points to remember when in the College Building:
Our aim is to keep you safe at all times. Please carry your access card with you when in College and do not allow others you do not know to tailgate behind you. This will prevent those people external to the College accessing restricted parts of our building. This keeps everyone safe.
We work hard to keep our building clean and tidy, please clear up after you have used a space in the building so that it is left as you found it.
Sometimes you might want to move heavy items. We do not allow any students to move heavy items in College and in particular pianos. Pianos must not be moved by students under any circumstances due to the risk of injury. The good news is we have a team of Porters at Reception who will assist.
Should you hear the fire alarm siren, this means that we all need to evaluate the building immediately by the safest route. You will see fire marshals in yellow hi vis jackets that will ensure you are leaving and point you to the safest exit. Our fire assembly point is on the car park on Rosamond Street. We all wait there until we are directed to go back into the building. There are 3 fire drills per year so that we can all practice the evacuation procedure and make sure that we all know what to do in the event of an emergency.
If you feel unwell or have had an accident, then please contact a first aider for assistance. They can be called at Reception and are specially trained to help you.
If you feel in crisis and need someone to talk to, we have a team of Mental Health First Aiders. Again, these can be contacted at Reception or you can find their contact details on the Moodle page.
