Loans for Postgraduate Master’s students

The Government will  provide a loan of up to £12,167 per student for postgraduate Master’s study who are ordinary residents of England. Students from Wales are eligible for a loan of up to £18,770. Students from Northern Ireland are eligible for a loan of up to £6,500. Students from Scotland are eligible for a loan of up to £7,000. 

Postgraduate Loan (PGL) for Master’s study will be: • a contribution towards the costs of study, i.e. it will be at the student’s discretion to use the loan towards fees, maintenance costs or other costs; • non-means tested; • paid directly to the student into a UK bank account.

Please be aware that Postgraduate Loans are available per course, and not per year and students should therefore budget accordingly.
